When your furnaces, boilers, kilns, or ducts run hotter than standard commercial insulation can handle, you need industrial thermal insulation built for sustained extreme heat. Ours is made in America, so you get consistent quality instead of the variability of cheap imports.
Pyro-Guard is our woven silica system for removable thermal protection, also called R&R removable reusable blankets. It comes as tape, blanket, or cable wrap, so you match the format to your job.
Wrap a valve body, cable bundle, or pipe run, and you get a pipe/valve insulation jacket that shrugs off flame and abrasion, then comes off in minutes when your crew needs access.
Here are the numbers that matter when you compare thermal insulation blankets.
Tech Specs
98% amorphous silicon dioxide woven silica fiber
Continuous service to 1,800°F; short-term to 3,000°F
Conforms to irregular shapes and equipment geometry
Silicone-coated options for moisture and abrasion resistance
Every blanket is made to your spec, not cut from a catalog, so R-value depends on your thickness and material combination. Tell us your application, and we’ll calculate it for your build.
Installation Methods
Pyro-Guard ships with five tested installation methods, A through E, so you pick the one that fits how your crew works. Each method below matches a different job, from large cable runs to single cables in panels.
A: Lacing
Silica textile in 6″ to 36″ widths wraps cable bundles, secured by ceramic tie cords and Velcro straps, two wraps minimum. A low-chloride wrap that reinstalls without tools.
B: Spiral
Woven silica tape in 1″ to 6″ widths goes on as a spiral wrap with at least 50% overlap. Ceramic cord then locks the wrap in place, so it can’t shift or telescope on the run.
C: Taping
An adhesive-backed glass tape overwrap goes on in the opposite direction, also at 50% minimum overlap. It adds abrasion resistance where cables get bumped near foot traffic.
D: Coated
Pyro-Guard RB 1800 pairs standard and silicone-coated silica blanket, coated side out, in 6″ to 36″ widths. It’s built for moisture and abrasion resistance in wet settings.
E: Sleeve
Braided sleeving, plain or silicone-coated, runs 1/8″ to 3″ inside diameter. Apply it before terminating single cables, or use it to tie bundles and secure blanket edges.
Pyro-Guard ships in two formats, tape and blanket, so you can match the material to the surface. The widths below cover everything from single cable wraps to full blanket coverage.
Tape Widths
Woven silica tape ships in 1″, 2″, 4″, and 6″ widths, each roll 50 feet long, suited to spiral or longitudinal wraps on single cables, small runs, and tight bends where wider blanket material won’t conform or wrap cleanly.
Wrap Widths
Blanket and cable wrap material runs 6″ to 36″ wide, enough for bundles, valve bodies, piping runs, and panels. Need custom sizes? Our Custom Textile Fabrication team builds industrial insulation blankets to your exact dimensions.
Applications Across Industries
An industrial thermal insulation blanket earns its keep wherever heat threatens people or uptime. You’ll find Pyro-Guard in power generation, protecting turbines, cabling, and electrical systems from heat that forces costly downtime.
In petrochemical, safeguarding pipelines and processing equipment running at extreme temperatures. In manufacturing, insulating machinery and components exposed to sustained high heat.
Frequently Asked Questions
When you’re comparing removable insulation blankets, industrial buyers ask the same questions. Here are the straight answers.
How do removable insulation blankets increase energy savings?
They cut heat loss like permanent insulation, without locking you out of your equipment. Pull the blanket for inspection, put it back on, and the savings stay in place year-round.
What temperature can Pyro-Guard blankets withstand?
Continuous service to 1,800°F, short-term to 3,000°F. That’s a wide margin above most standard high-temperature insulation blanket products.
Can insulation blankets be removed for maintenance and reinstalled without damage?
Yes. Tie cords, Velcro straps, or glass tape overwrap hold the blanket in place and release cleanly, so you reinstall the same blanket after every maintenance cycle.
What is the R-value of a thermal insulation blanket?
It depends on your build. Because every blanket is custom-fabricated, we calculate R-value for your thickness and material combination rather than publishing one number. Send your application details, and we’ll run the numbers.
Ready to Get Your Custom Blanket?
Permanent insulation locks you out of your equipment. Ours doesn’t. Industrial Energy Products builds thermal insulation blankets that come off clean, go back on right, and hold up for years, made in the USA with 30-plus years behind them.
